After almost five years, Friday, October 30, 2015 was my last day at Infusionsoft.
It has been an honor to be part of several exciting phases of growth at Infusionsoft and to accomplish world-changing contribution with so many passionate and talented people. I’ve been in the software growth business for a long time and I know it doesn’t get any better than this. Growth is thrilling, challenging and always an adventure.
I’m also proud of the work I’ve done and the contribution I’ve made to Infusionsoft as we grew from $15 million to $100 million in revenues. The company now needs the CMO for the $100M-$300M growth phase. She (or he) will be a great leader who will do great things in the upcoming years. 🙂
This year I struggled to make progress on my commitment to drive a key part of new customer growth. For four years I did well with this; this year I made changes but ran out of time to see them through to results. I am responsible for that and I know how critical it is to the company and our mission. Infusionsoft is growing fine and succeeding, but we have high expectations and big dreams to which we hold ourselves accountable. It’s the game I signed up for.
I’m more committed to the big Infusionsoft Vision, our Core Values and our Purpose to help small businesses succeed than to my permanent place in it. I say “our” rather than “they” because these have always been my values and these have been my goals for a long time as part of the team.
I will surely miss working every day with the exec team, the marketing team, every Infusionite and our loyal partners. I am also very proud of the talented marketing team and the senior marketing leaders who are doing big things.
I am a supporter of Infusionsoft and will always help encourage talented small business fanatics to join the cause.
I’m going to take a hiatus for a few months after a busy five year run. I’m not looking for a new CMO opportunity or a new cause right away. I plan to take some time off do some things I haven’t gotten to in the last 5 years. I will ski more than 10 days in Park City this winter and Felicia and I will do some dream travel.
I will also be active and take time to help the most promising software startup leaders in Arizona and support the exploding tech ecosystem here. I will connect with smart tech leaders and investors across the country to see where the world is going.
I have been working on a book idea based on one of the core “marketing magic tricks” I have been using for 25 years and speaking about for the last three years. It’s not magic, of course, but most entrepreneurs and many marketers don’t seem to know how to do it.
Infusionsoft is an amazing growth machine and being part of it has made me a better person. I’m grateful for how much I have developed and learned at Infusionsoft from Clate and everyone else who is committed to growing themselves and others as fast as possible.
I’m totally excited about taking time to explore and discover. I can’t wait to get back to the future and see where the world needs help and what my next entrepreneurial adventure will be.
